Our Life Together

Our Home

Aaron grew up in single-family homes with his two parents and his younger brother. His family moved a few times for work, and he spent his childhood growing up in several midwestern places, but mostly in Minnesota.

In this family, it's commonly Aaron who makes supper so that everyone can sit down to eat when Annie gets home from work.

Annie grew up splitting her time between her mom's townhouse, and her dad and loved step-mom's hobby farm. She felt strongly that when she grew up she wanted to live in a "real" house with a yard.

When Annie and Aaron were first married, they lived in the Twin Cities in an apartment, and later bought a small urban home. They loved their postage stamp yard (so quick to cut the grass), and commuting to their jobs was made easier living in the cities. Once Annie finished her school administration license, and was out job hunting, they considered a move "Up North" where the cost of living was more affordable, and they could live a nice life surrounded by the beauty of Northern Minnesota. Annie missed teaching so much, that she's returned to it, but we've stayed up North. Aaron makes art, has previously been a college professor, and is currently a K-12 art teacher.

We live one house away from a small lake, which is perfect. It's at a safe distance, it's great for ice skating in the winter, and fishing in the summer.

Our Pets

In our family, our pets enhance our lives.
In Annie's family, she always grew up with "inside," snuggly dogs- labs, golden retrievers, hunting dogs that were family members, and then as a teenager, she got two kittens for a birthday present from her mom. In Aaron's family, he grew up around his friends' dogs, but his parents were allergic.

Mr. Mittens, our 4-year-old cat (who thinks he's a dog)

Mr. Mittens is affectionate, lazy, and loves to eat. He's not even scared away when we have kid parties at our house!

Tulip, our 5-year-old Border Collie

Tulip loves to patrol our fenced in backyard and attempt to keep us all in the same room!
